Since the passing
of Speedcar master The Magic Man Michael Figliomeni
the West Australian Speedcar Drivers Association (WASDA)
Michael’s home Club have been committed to raising
money to assist his family, as part of that
commitment to support his wife Valerie and son Tyler
a number of initiatives were undertaken including
the Michael Figliomeni tribute night (conducted
early in the season) and the selling of armbands,
shirts and photos. There were a number of hard
working Club members led by Club secretary Mel
Fleming and the social committee that worked
tirelessly to bring it all together.
Since the fundraising began over $17,000 has been
raised which is expected to rise even further in the
coming months.
Recently a cheque for $17,039.10 was presented to
Frank Figliomeni (Michaels father) by Club president
Phil Moore at the Perth Motorplex. “It’s been a very
hard season for us all and we will continue to
support the family in any way we can” said an
emotional Moore.
Upon receiving the cheque Frank was overwhelmed by
the generosity shown and he choked up with tears as
he took possession of it.
“ I just can’t thank the Club enough this is amazing
the money will go to Valerie for Tylers future years
to come” said an overjoyed and emotional Figliomeni.
