World Series Sprintcars
Warriors To Honour The Magic Man
Monday, 30 October 2006
All drivers
competing in the Western Swing of the 20th
Proton World Series Sprintcars Championship on
November 8 at Kalgoorlie International Speedway
and on November 10/11 at the Perth Motorplex
will tribute the late Michael Figliomeni by
carrying a special decal on their racecars in
honour of the “Magic Man”.
Michael tragically passed away last Saturday
night, just minutes after he showed the fans at
the Perth Motorplex how awesome his new Speedcar
was and how much talent he still had to burn.
“It’s a tragedy for Michael’s family, his
friends and the sport of Speedway,” said a
shocked Max Dumesny on Sunday afternoon in
Sydney, “he was an incredible racecar driver and
above all else a really good bloke. He’ll be
sadly missed.”
A phone call from World Series Sprintcars to
David Challons from Camden Neon Signs in
Tullamarine Victoria Sunday afternoon after the
discussion with Max Dumesny had the suggested
artwork being designed first thing this morning
and just after noon today the six suggested
layouts were scaled down to one.
The decal will be provided to all teams who
nominate for the 2006/2007 Proton World Series
Sprintcars Western Swing and will be proudly
worn in honour of a unique and wonderful West
Aussie who wowed race fans and rivals alike with
his awesome racing talent and always later his
gentle human nature.
Thanks to David Challons and Camden Neon Signs
for assisting with this special project.
