To think Michael Figliomeni is no longer amongst
us in the world of Speedway is
unbelievable. Michael was a quietly spoken
person who did not get involved in agro.
He as genuine 100% racer without doubt the
finest Speedcar driver ever produced in
Australia.
To think that on Saturday-Oct-28 when he went
about the business of racing and winning was the
last time we were to see him race it seems/feels
like a bad dream.
He was in a class of his own watching him weave
his way through race car fields from the outside
looked so easy because Michael was so talented.
He was truly a "MAGIC-MAN" !
Even as I write
this I have tears in my eyes still not believing
I will see him race again.
He was a great
person, engineer, race car builder and most of
all a great bloke !
When I retired from management of
Speedway Michael wrote a beautiful
letter to me thanking me for all I had done for
the sport. Plus he thanked me for the Perth
Motorplex he added it was one of the reason's he
continued racing Speedway
because it was a special place for him.
He said a lot
of other kind things that will live with me for
ever. For that I thanked him.
We know his
passing has left a gap in the sport of speedway
racing that will never ever be filled.
To his parents family, wife, son plus the
thousands of Speedway fans all
over the world we say
thank-you Michael for being such a great man !
Thank-you for enriching our lives for being such
a special person.
We will all miss you so much. I trust God will
provide you with a special place in heaven.
