I wish to pay a
tribute to my nephew and Godson Michael
Figliomeni “The Magic Man”.
My dear sister Bub
and Frank’s first born, this beautiful
baby boy was to be my Godson, what an
honour they gave me.
I recall the day I
was married, and Michael, at the age of
3 and ˝ was my Pageboy.
As he did everything
so well so did he on this day. He walked
down the isle with his big brown eyes
carrying the wedding rings. He looked so
cute.
My husband, family
and myself were regulars at Claremont
Speedway and saw most of Michaels
racing. After most events we would go to
the pit area where I would suss him out
and give him a congratulatory kiss. He
looked embarrassed but I know he didn’t
mind. That was just Michael, showing his
shy side.
Unfortunately, due to
certain reasons we never made it more
than a few times to The Quit Motorplex,
but I always found out one way or
another how he did, and left many a
message on his phone congratulating him.
The last time I saw
Michael was when he visited me mid
October for my birthday. He had not long
had his medical and said everything was
fine. We talked about the coming season,
I wished him the best not knowing that
would be the last time I would ever see
him.
The loss of Michael
has hit hard from my sister Bub, Frank,
Valerie, Tyler, Michael’s siblings &
partners, Niece’s, Nephew’s, Nana,
Aunts, Uncles, cousins, friends,
speedway competitors and fans.
One thing we have in
our favour is all the wonderful memories
we have of Michael. Plus the tributes
that have been said and written, just
make you so proud to have known such a
wonderful man.
“The Magic Man” was
loved and respected so much and he will
live on in our hearts forever. There are
many more things I could say, but just
can’t find the right words.
